After an absence of five years, Heroes is coming back to television with Heroes Reborn, and Masi Oka is now the second returning cast member to join the production. Oka played fan-favorite Hiro Nakamura in the 2006 series, a nerdy, young Japanese man who discovers that he has the innate ability to bend time and space.
Oka joins at least one other Heroes veteran for the production, Jack Coleman, the actor behind Noah Bennet (also known as the mysterious "man in horn-rimmed glasses"). "I'm excited to return to my Heroes roots," said Oka. "Hiro Nakamura was such an inspirational role to play, and I'm hoping the fans will enjoy seeing him back on TV."
Announced in February of 2014, Heroes Reborn is a 13-episode miniseries set to premiere on NBC in fall of 2015. According to the official synopsis, the series will see Heroes creator Tim Kring return and "reconnect with the basic elements of the show's first season, where ordinary people wake up to the fact that they have extraordinary abilities." Confirmed new cast for the series includes Chuck's Zachary Levi and Once Upon a Time's Robbie Kay, although there's no word yet on who they will be playing, or what the overall story of the series will be.
Here's the miniseries' brief and cryptic 2015 Superbowl spot:
