Joysephina Victoria Occhiuto, commonly known by her stage name of Joy Behar, is a famous American actress, voice actress, talk show host, as well as a writer. To the public, Joy Behar is perhaps best known for her contributions to an entertainment program called “The View”, and for hosting the news program “Joy Behar: Say Anything!”, which aired on Current TV network. Over the years, the show included a variety of guest stars, among whom were Kate Gosselin, Kathy Griffin, Michael Moore, Steve Martin, and Perez Hilton to name a few. In 2010, “Joy Behar: Say Anything!” was even nominated for GLAAD Awards. Aside from hosting her own show, Joy Behar is known for making appearances on other television projects. She has been a guest star on Susan Seidelman’s “Cookie” film, “Manhattan Murder Mystery” directed by Woody Allen, and “Love Is All There Is”, in which she starred alongside Lainie Kazan, Joseph Bologna, and William Hickey. More recently, in 2012 she voiced a character in an animated film with Ray Romano, Jennifer Lopez, Queen Latifah and Nicki Minaj called “Ice Age: Continental Drift”. Upon her graduation, she worked as an English teacher in Linderhurst Senior High School. Her career in the television industry started in the 1980s, when she joined the “Good Morning America” crew, where she initially worked as a receptionist, and later rose to become a producer. Eventually, she was able to host her own show entitled “Way Off Broadway”, and even made several appearances in various movies. Joy Behar rose to prominence almost a decade later, when she was invited to join “The View”, for which she later received an award. Aside from being involved in the latter show, Behar has managed to launch her own talk shows, namely “The Joy Behar Show” and “Joy Behar: Say Anything!”. Behar succeeded at being occupied with both shows, until in 2013 she announced her intention to leave “The View”. That same year, “Joy Behar: Say Anything!” was taken off air, as a result of Current TV being changed to the Al Jazeera America channel.
In regards to her personal life, Joy Behar was married to Joe Behar from 1965 until 1981. Together they have a daughter, Eve, who was born in 1970. A year after their separation, Joy Behar started dating Steve Janowitz, with whom she intended to get married in 2009. However, their marriage was postponed until 2011.
